Longing for Springtime

Yesterday is history, tomorrow hasn’t come,

So let me live today Lord, holding tightly to Your hand.
May the glory of Your presence fill my struggling heart,
So my spirit rests in peacefulness as I trust Your eternal plan.

Today I praise You Father, for Your amazing love,

And claim Your power to live in the atmosphere of grace.
In the realm of the reality in every promise You have made,
I lift my eyes, believing, to behold Your precious face.

I long to experience springtime, now that winter’s past,
To revel in the sunshine—to dance, and sing, and praise.
I wish now to remember spring flowers blooming bright,
Rather than the foggy clouds, the winter chill and haze.

As the leafy greenness sprouts from twigs upon each tree,
I ask, O heavenly Father, do your renewing work this day,
Taking losses that I feel, transforming them for good,
Bringing forth some beauty from the death that’s come my way.

I cling, Lord, to Your promise, “I will make all things new.
I will redeem, deliver; raise your loved ones up again.”
The death of winter will be gone in that eternal spring,
For Jesus You have life to give; I know that You will win.
